Vineyard:  A blend of selected parcels of Riesling from our family vineyard on Springvale Road, Watervale.

Season Report: We were kept on our toes during the 2014 vintage as nature threw us a few curveballs. The growing season was full of extremes with winter frosts and hot, dry summer. However clear skies and cool weather before and during harvest allowed the grapes to ripen fully at a controlled and leisurely pace.

Winemaking: The cooler conditions during February slowed down the ripening process, delaying hand-harvesting until the second week of March. These parcels were sorted, gently crushed, and allowed to drain with only free-run juice being used in the final Cuvee’. A cool ferment was allowed to proceed to complete dryness.

Cellaring:  The second release of our five-year cellar release program and a terrific way for you to enjoy the changes and benefits of putting fine Watervale Rieslings down, and we are happy to do this for you! Drinking superbly now, with a long future of over twenty years ahead of it.

Tasting Notes: Technically bone dry but displaying the classic Watervale sweet-fruited characters the region is so famous for. The initial fresh lime juice and lemon curd note that dominated the nose and palate whilst young have now taken on a toasty and honeyed personality, beautifully textured yet still balanced and supported by a juicy spine of softening acidity.

Food Pairing Suggestion: Seared kingfish with green salad and lemon dressing.
