2013 Watervale Riesling - Museum Release
Varietal: Riesling 100%
Region: Clare Valley
Vineyard: A single vineyard wine hand-selected from our family vineyards on Springvale Road, Watervale
Season Report: 2013 was a shorter, more condensed harvest with initial warmer than average temperatures during December and January that cooled considerably as harvest approached in February. A drier than typical vintage with cool night and morning temperatures that tempered the overall effects of the summer.
Winemaking: Hand-harvested parcels were selected in the last week of February, gently crushed and allowed to drain with only free-run juice used in the overall blend. A cool three-week ferment continued with the ferments allowed to finish completely dry.
Cellaring: It was not hard to justify putting down a few cases of our famed Watervale Riesling as the first release in our five-year cellaring program. It will continue to drink beautifully for another 20 years.
Tasting Notes: This delightful wine has aged gracefully, developing the honeyed, toasty, and marmalade flavours that appeal to lovers of aged Rieslings. The softening core of juicy and naturally positioned acidity perfectly balanced to its lingering fruit profile.
Food Pairing Suggestion: Enjoy with herb-infused roast chicken and seasonal vegetables
