2021 Sharegarden Riesling
A fresh new Riesling within our portfolio, the Sharegarden brings together selected parcels from across the Clare Valley in an ode to Mort Mitchell’s Sharegarden that he managed when he was a much younger man !
Region: Clare Valley
Variety: 100% Riesling
Vineyard: Blended wine selected from vineyards across the Clare Valley
Season Report: Very dry conditions over summer and leading into vintage reduced yields and put pressure on water reserves but thankfully the valley’s cooler temperatures still allowed the fruit to ripen evenly in another top quality growing season for Riesling.
Winemaking: several parcels across different vineyards were crushed, drained and settled then fermented separately and allowed to stabilise before final blending and filtration. Just a small amount of natural grape sugar was retained to give the final wine a delicious slippery mouthfeel and finish.
Tasting Notes: Brilliant in clarity and condition, the aromas of lime juice, lemon zest and citrus rind leap energetically from the glass and quickly overwhelm the senses. The palate promises more of the same ; lime juice, marmalade and just a hint of the tropics, that all come together in a wall of flavour perfectly tuned to the racy natural acidity and hint of retained sugar.
Cellaring Potential: Of at least ten years
Pair With: Fresh seafood, garden salads, chicken based dishes
