2016 Khileyre Riesling - Museum Release
Our Limited release Reserve Riesling, the Khileyre has been named after Kathleen’s old family property in the Clare Valley.
Region: Clare Valley
Varietal: Riesling 100%
Vineyard: A single parcel of Riesling, 100% sourced from the Churinga Vineyard on Pearce Road, Watervale
Season Report: A classically defined and elegant vintage, well-received rain events in January and February were the making of the 2016 season. The cool days leading into the even cooler nights slowed down the ripening allowing the vineyards to be harvested at the perfect sugar/acid /flavour balance.
Winemaking: This hand-selected single parcel was harvested on March the 5th, Carefully crushed and drained, cold settled with only the free-run juice proceeding to the next stage. Cool fermented until bone dry, the wine was bottled in late June, cellared for eighteen months and finally released in February 2019
Cellaring: Potential to cellar for at least twenty years.
Tasting Notes: Our pinnacle Riesling created in a true Reserve style. Bone dry, searing acidity with flavours of lemon curd, tangerines, floral highlights, and orange blossom. Complex and textural.
Food Pairing Suggestion: Fresh seafood platter with freshly squeezed lemon.
