Autumn is a glorious time of the year. The afternoons get cooler, the leaves turn a beautiful auburn colour and we start to wind down before the winter weather hits. For us, that means switching from those fresh, crisp and cool Rieslings to the more textural and oaky Chardonnays. Whether it's relaxing out the back around a roaring fireplace on a cooler evening or sitting around a long Sunday lunch paired with a delicious Roast Chicken - a Chardonnay is the perfect wine companion.
Hailing from Watervale, from one of the highest locations in the Clare Valley, our 2017 Single Vineyard Chardonnay is mid straw in colour with fading green tints as it gracefully starts to age, the nose featuring lemon zest, hints of tropical melon and peach, beautifully supported by subtle French oak chariness. The palate is both textural and complex and cleverly framed by its natural acidity and polished, fine boned persistence. The flavours of lemon, peach and melon predominating.
